Festivals in the South West 2018

We have made a list of all the festivals in South West England (mostly Devon & Cornwall) that we can find plus a couple thrown in from Wales as they so good. So many to choose from.  If you know of any more that aren't on this list, please let us know and we'll add it on.

APRIL

Classical music festival. No camping but campsites close by.

Port Eliot Dog Festival and Whippet Tea Party - dates tbc  https://www.facebook.com/events/1935335203354916/ Set in the beautiful grounds of Port Eliot,  all proceeds raised go to Children's Hospice South West.  

St Ives Food & Drink Festival http://www.stivesfoodanddrinkfestival.co.uk 11th - 13th May 2018. Held on Porthminster beach.'

JUNE

The Great Estate Festival - www.greatestatefestival.co.uk 1 - 3rd June. A brand new festival set in Scorrier estate (Redruth) - woodland silent disco, Burlesque, swamp circus, cornish wrestling, Electric swing circus & lots more.

Wychwood Festival www.wychwoodfestival.com 1 - 3rd June 2018. Family festival set on Cheltenham racecourse with campsite close by.

3 Wishes Faery Fest  http://fairyfestival.co.uk 15 - 17th June 2018 For three fairytastic days & nights of faery delights! Where humans and faerie folk can walk (or fly!) side-by-side in perfect harmony, in celebration of the magical time of the summer solstice and midsummer’s eve. Held at Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park in Torpoint Facebook event page

Electric Beach Festival www.electricbeachfestival.co.uk dates tbc.
Electric Beach Festival is a two day event happening next to the beach at Watergate Bay, nr Newquay. No camping so have to find a campsite close by.

Glastonbury http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/ 2018 is their fallow year. Next festival in 2019.  Tickets sell out in under 2 hours so good luck for getting them.

Galowan Festival www.golowanfestival.org - 15 - 24th June 2018 Midsummer celebration has revived many of Cornwall's ancient customs and has grown to become a major arts and culture festival: its central event 'Mazey Day' 

Tunes in the Dunes http://www.tunesinthedunes.co.uk/ 8 - 10th June 2018 Set on the beautiful Perranporth beach. With a back drop of scenic cliffs and sand dunes, this is a truly unique event where you can enjoy your live music with an ice cold beverage with your feet in the sand and the ocean only a stones throw away. Camping fees extra in campsite close by.

JULY

Dante Summer Festival www.dantefestival.org date TBC, Tamar Valley
Concerts of Mozart, Brahms & Britten alternate with open rehearsals, folk music, workshops, guided walks & children events.

Rock Oyster Festival www.rockoysterfestival.co.uk. 6 - 7th July 2018.  Close to Rok / Wadebridge, Cornwall.
 See blog from 2015.  2 day music & food festival set on the banks of the camel estuary. Stunning location.

Tropical Pressure festival www.tropicalpressure.co.uk 13 - 15th July 2018. An exciting, family friendly cultural festival for Cornwall  - celebrating the rich music, dance and food of 3 Tropical continents. Larmer Tree festival www.larmertreefestival.co.uk - 19 - 22nd July

Chagstock http://www.chagstock.info/ 20 - 21st July 2018. Hosted at Whiddon Down (close to Exeter and covers about 70 acres of farmland with glorious views over the northern edge of Dartmoor. Sells out at 5000 people.

Zestifal https://www.falmouth.co.uk/falmouth-events/zestifal/  27th July 2018. The town will be transformed with loads of activities, sports and initiatives all inviting people of all ages and abilities to take part.

Lafrowda, www.lafrowda-festival.co.uk 8 days in July, St Just, Cornwall.  21st is Lafrowda Day.
An 8 day community arts & music festival. From hip hop to harmony, from folk to funk, we’ve twelve hours of free entertainment to suit every taste and, of course, three spectacular processions. All this, and street performers, stalls, refreshments, bouncy castles, and a great family-friendly atmosphere.

Village Pump Festival http://www.villagepumpfolkfestival.co.uk/ 20 - 22nd July 2018. Trowbridge. Fabulous family festival, great venue & entertainment. The kids entertainment is incredible & if you go, we recommend a dip in the stream, there's a deep pool by the old wheel.

Halsetown Village Fete & Beer Festivalhttp://www.halsetownvillagefete.co.uk Date TBC. A proper village knees up!  

Port Eliot Festival www.porteliotfestival.com 26 - 29th July 2018, St Germans, Cornwall

Womad Festival http://womad.co.uk/ 26 - 29th July 2018. Charlton Park, Upper Minety, Malmesbury, Wiltshire, SN16 9DG. WOMAD is a 'World of Music, Arts and Dance festival. Tickets from £145.  Capacity 40000. Camping allowed

They describe it as like a massive house party...in a field. Bude, North Cornwall. It will be taking place within 'The Wyldes' – a custom made festival site set in a scenic, lush valley in North Cornwall.

Surf, skate & music festival on the Cornish coast.

Beautiful Days http://www.beautifuldays.org/ 17 - 19th Aug 2018. Escot park, Devon. The festival has music and entertainment across six stages plus a children’s area in the centre of the festival for toddlers through to teens, walkabout theatre, site art installations, comedy, theatre, family camping, food & craft stalls, healing area & play areas.

SEPTEMBER

Healey's Cyder Farm, Penhallow, TR4 9LW. 3 days plus camping early bird price is £25 per person, under 14s free.

Art, Literature & music festival at different locations around St Ives town.

Henry's Little Big Gig, www.littlbiggig.co.uk   2017 dates tbc
is an exciting live music and ale family festival based at the infamous Henry’s Campsite in the Lizard. Henry’s is a magnificent campsite set just south of Kynance Cove, with a stunning sea view, palms trees, quirky eco-art and rescued animals.

Looe Music festival www.looemusic.co.uk 29th Sept - 1st Oct 2017. Early bird tickets £99 for adults.
Held on the Harbour beach of Looe town as well as in the town. Headline acts play on the spectacular Adrenalin Quarry Stage looking out to sea while 60+ bands will perform all across Looe, all weekend in the pubs and on the Harbour Stage.

OCTOBER

Halloween Masked Ball - http://maskedball.net/ Epic 1 night party usually held at Flambards in Helston.

Bike Lights Wadebridge - http://wadebridgecreativehub.co.uk/bikelights-real/ Incredibly spectacle of illuminated bikes cycling around Wadebridge - join in and decorate your bikes at the event. See more info on our blog.

THROUGH OUT THE YEAR

Anyone who likes beach parties - visit http://www.thewateringhole.co.uk/events/ - the Watering hole pub is right on Perranporth beach and they often have bands playing there.
