The Ale & Anchor festival in Mousehole

The Old Coastguard Hotel in Mousehole put on a 3 day music and ale festival in the beautiful gardens and they were blessed with mostly sunshine. They had so many different bands and musicians playing over the 3 days as well as delicious bbq food & refreshments from Skinners Breweries. We weren't able to see as many bands as we'd have liked to as had other commitments, but got to spend some time there and really enjoyed The Odd Folk, The Walker Brothers Penzance, Biere De Luxe as well as the Squashbox Theatre. Other bands playing were the Mousehole Male Voice Choir, Slapdash Trio, The Cold Six Hundred, ENNOR and the Three Daft Monkeys who I heard were amazing.

The hotel is in a magic position overlooking the sea and the & gate at the bottom of their garden leads directly down to the rock & tidal pools. Duwayne bumped into Steve Backshall just outside (TV presenter of Deadly 60 fame) while setting up tent and that's because his fiance, olympian Helen Glover was staying next door preparing for their wedding. When I looked over the fence on Saturday I could see her with her bridesmaids posing for photos, wish they could've joined the party.

Our tent was set over a stage set up by Penzance scaffolding that was a bit tricky to set up but it worked out really well. Click on images to see them full size & there's a couple videos of the Odd Folk playing at the end (including a very cool tap dancer), sorry it's a bit shaky but you can get a feel of the lovely atmosphere there.
