Hi. We are Duwayne & Elise Langley, Jabula Tent partners!! We both grew up in South Africa which is where stretch tents originate but have been living here in Cornwall, St Ives since 2003 and love it here. We have 3 children, love camping, surfing, exploring Cornwall and going to music festivals. We enjoy hiring out stretch tents as it allows us to get involved with some amazing events and see some incredible places. We had an outdoor wedding ourselves and so enjoy being involved in the many varied, beautiful wedding venues there are in the South West.
Besides providing stretch tents for events, Duwayne is a qualified electrician and we are both very involved in local community activities. We helped to set up and run the St Ives Community Orchard & Nature Reserve, where we run work sessions twice a week, have personally planted 100's of fruit and woodland trees, organised the planting of 1000's of trees and organise regular free community events.
Why should you choose us?
We are committed to providing an efficient, professional service, to do our best to find a solution and to provide a beautiful and strong structure. We are friendly, helpful, punctual & reliable & will go all out to help you create an unforgettable event. We are extremely conscientious and will do everything in our power to make sure your event goes off without a hitch, we have often gone out in all hours to make sure the tent is secure when the wind gets up! We have a great team with plenty of experience and have put up 100's of tents in all sorts of locations.
Reducing our environmental impact.
In our tent hire business, we actively try to work in ways that minimise waste and unnecessary consumption reflecting our belief that small, consistent actions matter.
This includes:
- Avoiding plastic and single-use items wherever possible.
- Using Velcro straps and reusable ties instead of plastic cable ties
- Cleaning, repairing, and reusing durable carpets, rather than regularly replacing them, as is common practice in the industry
- Making conscious decisions to reduce mileage, including turning down jobs more than 80 miles away to limit fuel use and emissions
- Using locally sourced wooden poles for our tents and even some of these have been re-used.
Jabula means 'happy' in Zulu & we wish 'Jabulani' happiness to all those who party in our tents."
Here's a fun video of us putting up a stretch tent in our first year of business in 2015. Filmed by our good friend Senara from
'On the Beach Productions'. We are far more professional now but this is a great momento.
