Zennor Field
These fields are just off the stunning coast road just past Zennor and it is an area full of interest and hidden delights. Zennor is a small village and parish in the West Penwith moorland of Cornwall with a fascinating history and a wonderful place for walking and exploring this ancient landscape.
The parish church of St Senara is noted for the Mermaid Chair, associated with the tale of Matthew Trewhella, who was lured to a watery grave at Pendour Cove by a beautiful mermaid.
The road along this route meanders through starkly dramatic countryside dotted with old mine-workings, ancient stone walls and granite-built farmhouses framed against a colourful canvas of gorse and wildflowers, dropping sharply down rugged cliffs to the sea below. Those prepared to take a little time and move away from the beaten track to discover this beautiful and unspoiled part of Cornwall will be amply rewarded by all it has to offer. The walk from Zennor to St Ives is one of the most spectacular stretches of the South West Coast path. The landscape is beautifully wild and rugged and the area around the parish of Zennor is designated both an Environmentally Sensitive Area and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
